Mining & Heavy Equipment Scanning
Reduce plant downtime and capture critical geometry from worn, damaged, or obsolete equipment parts. We provide specialist industrial 3D scanning for mining assets, fixed plant, mobile equipment, chutes, guards, covers, brackets, housings, liners, tooling, and heavy maintenance components.

Scan-to-CAD & STEP File Creation
Transform raw scanned parts into clean, usable CAD models, STEP files, and manufacturing data. Ideal for legacy components with no original drawings, modified machinery parts, obsolete spares, castings, moulds, and workshop equipment that requires accurate digital geometry for replication or design.

Industrial 3D Scanning Services
Access precision engineering 3D scanning for manufacturing, maintenance verification, and product development. Utilizing high-resolution optical and laser metrology systems, we capture real-world engineering parts with strict accuracy. Deliverables include optimized STL/OBJ meshes, aligned point cloud data, or clean CAD reference geometry ready for further modeling.

Inspection, Wear & Comparison Reports
Leverage precision 3D laser scanning data to inspect parts, track wear cycles, and analyze deformation over time. We compare physical parts back to original nominal CAD models, providing clear color-map deviation reports, digital inspection outputs, and dimensional validation to confirm quality control before components go into service.

Automotive, Motorsport & Restoration Scanning
Capture complex automotive components and machinery parts for fitment design, modification, restoration, or custom manufacturing. Well-suited for precision brackets, covers, housings, custom trims, body panels, moulds, and engine mounts where factory drawings or CAD files are completely unavailable.

Moulds, Tooling, Jigs & Fixtures
Document, inspect, or execute reverse engineering in Brisbane for production moulds, dies, patterns, press tooling, jigs, and fixtures. High-accuracy scanning supports fast tool repair, direct tool replacement, modification planning, wear assessment, and generating reliable CAD records directly from physical workshop equipment.

Large Object & Equipment Scanning
For large-scale industrial components, structural fabrications, guards, complex assemblies, and plant items, we deploy specialized long-range or large-volume scanning workflows. We assess the ideal methodology based on physical part size, surface finishes, site access, and required data tolerances. Workshop and selected on-site scanning options are available throughout Queensland.

Scan, Model & Manufacture
Mad Max Engineering delivers a complete, single-source workflow: from raw physical part to accurate scan data, digital CAD model, production STEP file, and final CNC-machined replacement. This turnkey approach is perfect when you need a practical, end-to-end engineering solution rather than just an unmodeled raw data file.
Posted on Google Rodney BerryTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I can thoroughly recommend Max for the work he did for me. I needed an engine camshaft 3D scanned into a CNC ready-to-go file......so that it can be reproduced/machined. From the start of my contact, Max was timely, considerate and thoroughly professional to all points in the process. It was an absolute pleasure :) THANKYOU Max.Posted on Google Victor AvilaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Max made some prototype parts for a component I'm working on. Fast, thorough, asked many questions and suggested changes that improved my design. I cannot recommend him enough!Posted on Google HYBUILT Retaining SystemsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Max did an amazing job for us, his service is of a high quality and the end product was better than we expected, he went above and beyond. We look forward to working with him again on future projects.Posted on Google Branko PribicTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Needed scan for one mechanical part and everything was done fast and professionally.Posted on Google Marko IcicTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I urgently needed to reverse engineer a part and Max was able to 3D scan and CNC machine the part for me in 1 week! Perfect service!Posted on Google DheeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Max 3D scanned an antique chair for me and turned it into a CAD model. I'm now having a set of 6 made for me. I'll go back to Max any time I need something made because he listens to what you need and gives honest, expert advice and servicePosted on Google Isabel SavillTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I used Mad Max Engineering for 3D scanning and CAD drawing. Everything was done quickly and smoothly. Communication was clear and no problem. We can supply raw scan data and mesh files in formats such as STL and OBJ, as well as CAD-ready files including STEP, Parasolid and other common engineering formats. The best format depends on whether you need inspection data, a reference model, further CAD work or a manufacturing-ready solid model.
Yes. We can convert scanned components into clean CAD geometry suitable for use in SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor and other major CAD platforms. Depending on the component and intended use, this may include simplified reference geometry, surface models or fully parametric solid models.
Yes. We provide mobile 3D scanning throughout Brisbane and surrounding areas for machinery, vehicles, fabricated structures, tooling and components that cannot easily be transported. Site access, lighting, surface condition and available working space can affect the scanning method and setup required.
Accuracy depends on the size, surface finish, geometry and scanning method used. For suitable workshop components, our scanners are capable of accuracy down to approximately 0.04 mm. Larger objects and field scanning projects are normally completed at a practical accuracy selected to suit the design, inspection or manufacturing requirement.
Yes. Mad Max Engineering can support the complete process from scanning and reverse engineering through to CNC machining, 3D printing or coordination of other manufacturing processes. This helps ensure the final CAD model is created with the intended manufacturing method in mind.
Yes. Mad Max Engineering handles the complete process in house, from scanning and reverse engineering through to CNC machining, 3D printing. This experience helps ensure the final CAD model is created with the intended manufacturing method in mind.
3D scanning captures the physical shape of an object and produces a digital mesh. Reverse engineering goes further by converting that scan into organised CAD geometry that can be edited, measured, modified and used for manufacturing. A scan file is useful for reference and inspection, while a reverse-engineered CAD model is generally required for producing replacement parts or making design changes.
Yes. Where enough original geometry remains, we can use the scan data to reconstruct worn, damaged or missing features. Symmetry, mating components, drawings, measurements and design intent may also be used to rebuild the original geometry.
Please send clear photos of the component, approximate overall dimensions, the required file format, the intended use of the model and any areas that require particular accuracy. If the part is large or must be scanned on site, include its location and any access restrictions.
