Obsolete & Legacy Part Replication
When a machine goes down and the part’s no longer made, or the OEM lead time is months out, waiting isn’t an option. If there’s no drawing to work from, reverse engineering is the way to get one made locally.
We measure the part directly – including parts that are worn, damaged, or corroded – and work back to what the original dimensions and tolerances would have been.

Scan-to-CAD & Parametric Modelling
A scan gives you a point cloud or an STL. That’s a shape, not a model – you can’t edit it, dimension it, or drop it into SolidWorks and change anything. Turning that into a proper CAD model is where the real work happens.
We rebuild the part as a feature-based model – clean cylinders, correct concentricity, flat faces where they should be flat, consistent wall thickness. That means we’re correcting for wear and manufacturing variation, not modelling every scan artefact.

Bolt circles, keyways, thread pitches, and pin tolerances captured accurately

Modifying & Upgrading Components
Reverse engineering isn’t just about copying a part exactly. If something keeps failing in the field, copying the original design just copies the failure.
We capture the existing part first, then modify the model to suit – before it goes anywhere near a machine.
Common changes:
Adding ribbing or wall thickness to stop cracking
Changing bolt patterns or shaft sizes to suit different equipment
Reworking internal profiles for better flow or less wear
Updating old designs to fit modern bearings and seals
Deliverable: An updated CAD model that keeps the original mounting and interface points but fixes the actual problem.

Digital Spares for Wear Components
Carrying a warehouse of spare parts costs money – space, capital, and stock that might never get used. Scanning high-wear parts once and keeping the CAD on file is the alternative.
We scan and model parts like drive shafts, wear liners, pins, bushings, and chutes, and keep them as verified digital files. When one fails, you’re machining a replacement locally instead of waiting on freight.

Automotive & Vintage Component Recreation
Same process, different application – custom automotive work, motorsport fabrication, marine modifications, and classic restorations where there’s no factory drawing to work from.
Fitting a modern engine into an old chassis, or recreating a cracked casting that hasn’t been made in forty years – we scan the geometry accurately, including body lines and cast surfaces, and turn it into data you can build from.
Typical work:
Bell housings, adapter plates, engine mounts
Discontinued engine blocks, heads, manifolds
Suspension geometry, steering knuckles, hub setups
Panel scanning for mould or tooling work
Deliverable: STEP files or accurate STL meshes, ready for fabrication, billet machining, or 3D printing.

Models That Actually Get Machined
There’s a real difference between a model that looks right on screen and one a machinist can actually cut. A lot of scanning work hands over geometry that’s technically accurate and practically useless, non-standard threads, tolerances no shop can hold, radii that don’t match any tool in the rack.
We run CNC machining in-house, so every model we build gets tested against what a mill or lathe can actually produce – correct internal radii, realistic tolerances, and thread forms that match what’s actually cut. If it’s not machinable, we know before it leaves the shop, not after it’s sent to a supplier.
Why that matters:
Models are built by the same people who manufacture the parts, not a design office that’s never run a machine or a 3D printer.
